Prof. D. Nageshwar Reddy

Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, founder and head of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology and chairman of World Endoscopy Organisation Research Committee was conferred with the world’s highest gastroenterology award in Shanghai, China, at a function held on September 23.Nageshwar Reddy was presented the award by the then president of World Gastroenterology Organisation at the world conference on gastroenterology which was attended by around 10,000 gastroenterologists from across the world.

He did his MD (Medicine) and DM (Gastroenterology) from the most prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. Dr. Chandrasekar has been honoured with the most prestigious Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCP – Glasgow). The award was conferred to him at Glasgow, UK on Wednesday, the 22nd July, 2009. Senior active life member of the Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI) with more than 23 years of experience in the field of Interventional Gastroenterology & Therapeutic Endoscopy. Worked as Teaching Faculty - Assistant Professor, Department of Gastroenterology, Madras Medical College & Government General Hospital, Chennai. Dr. Chandrasekar has set up and organized the Department of Gastroenterology, Government Medical College & Hospital, Coimbatore.
